Transforming Lives Through Clean Cooking

The Challenge

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 2.4 billion people globally rely on open fires or inefficient stoves fueled by biomass like charcoal and animal waste for cooking. This contributes to household air pollution, responsible for approximately 3.2 million deaths annually as of 2020. In Ghana, nearly 80% of households use unclean fuels, disproportionately affecting women and children.

The adoption of clean cooking solutions faces resistance in rural and peri-urban areas due to cultural practices and mindsets. To address this, GrandHedge International organized the inaugural Clean Cooking Ambassadors Training Program from November 9th to 11th, 2023, under the theme "Green Education for a Sustainable Future."

Program Overview

The 2023 Clean Cooking Ambassadors Training Program offered comprehensive knowledge on climate action and clean cooking, emphasizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), clean cooking technologies, and climate change. Participants had the opportunity to engage with young entrepreneurs in the clean cooking sector, fostering innovation and collaboration.
